Ideias do Levante – Cultural Association of Lagoa, promotes on October 20th a Laboratory for Introduction to Portuguese Sign Language and Deaf Culture, directed by Miguel Rodrigues.
History and evolution of Portuguese Sign Language (LGP), sign variants, existing in Portugal, sign alphabet, enunciation and questioning of the proper name, daily fulfillment, professions and terms related to them and countries, cities and localities are the foreseen contents.
In this training, some aspects of the so-called Deaf Culture will be addressed, the experiences of the Deaf as part of a Society, the particularities of Portuguese Sign Language (LGP), as the "First Language" of the Deaf, the Dactylological Alphabet, and , several interactive activities, related to the first and everyday gestures of LGP.
Miguel Rodrigues began his learning in the area of Portuguese Sign Language (LGP), in 1996, at the Associação Portuguesa de Deaf, where he attended all existing levels at the time.
Trainee at the Jacob Rodrigues Pereira Institute, a college related to the Teaching of the Deaf, an integral part of Casa Pia de Lisboa. Over the past few years, he has collaborated with various Associations of the Deaf in the country and provided training in the area of dissemination of Deaf Culture and LGP.
This training will take place at the association's headquarters in Lagoa, and is limited to a minimum of six participants and a maximum of 15 participants.
The expected workload totals 6 hours distributed, in the morning (10:00-13:00) and afternoon (14:30-17:30) on Saturday (October 20th).
Cost of registration at the laboratory: 30 euros (members) or 35 euros (non-members). Registration can be done through the association website or, alternatively, by calling 282010080, from 18:00 pm to 20:00 pm, Monday to Friday (except holidays).
