David Livramento, cyclist from Carmim/Prio/Tavira won the Onda/Boavista Award, which took place in the north of the country, between 14 and 16 September.

The Cycling Prize started on Friday, with the Tavirense runner winning the first stage of 120 kilometers, which began and ended in Póvoa do Lanhoso.

The story of the first journey began to unfold from the initial kilometers, with a flight of some elements. A few kilometers from the final risk, Livramento launched himself to the finish line, beating all the competition, and thus becoming the first yellow jersey in the competition.

The second day united Gondomar and Jovim, over 125 kilometers, with Livramento starting the journey with a 1-minute advantage over the runner-up.

Despite proving to be a difficult journey, the Algarvian runner kept the lead, even with constant competing attacks.

On the last day, a 4 km Individual Time Trial took place in Gondomar.

With the end of the competition in sight, it was up to the yellow jersey to maintain the result: “with the advantage of time that I had and this being a short time trial, I just had to keep the result to win”.

That's what happened, with the runner, at the end of the three days, getting 31 seconds ahead of the 2nd place (Hugo Sabido) and thus guaranteeing his first victory in a staged event.

Hugo Sabido (LA Alumínios-Atarte) was the winner of the individual time trial, but was unable to dethrone David Livramento (Carmim-Prio-Tavira), who wore the yellow jersey on the first day and kept it until the end.

David Livramento, despite being only 17th in the time trial, ended the Onda-Boavista GP with 31 seconds ahead of Sabido. The third was Delio Fernández (Onda-Boavista), at 43 seconds.

“I just had to keep a good pace and control the difference, because, fortunately, it was a short time trial, which didn't allow for big differences”, explained David Livramento.

Carmim/Prio/Tavira was represented by David Livramento, Ricardo Mestre, Diogo Nunes, Valter Pereira, Luís Silva, Daniel Mestre, Henrique Casimiro, and Alejandro Marque.

In the remaining rankings, LA Alumínios-Atarte won by teams, José Mendes (LA Alumínios-Atarte) was the best climber and Jorge Montenegro (Louletano / Dunas Douradas) won the title of best cyclist of the club teams.

The end of the Onda-Boavista Grand Prix was used by the Municipality of Gondomar, represented by Councilor Fernando Paulo, to honor André Cardoso, a Gondomarense who was the best Portuguese in this year's Tour of Spain and who will represent the National Team/Liberty Seguros on the 23rd of September, in the endurance race of the World Road Championship, in the Dutch region of Limburg.
