The 2nd Petisco Route in Portimão, between August 31 and October 14, proposes a route with 41 tasty stops, to which is added a vast entertainment program, resulting from the synergies that this initiative of Teia D'Impulsos Association reaching out to the local society.

This year's edition goes beyond the gastronomic component, and presents an important cultural program, with around 80 initiatives, ranging from music to plastic arts exhibitions, including street entertainment, dance, dissemination of regional products, workshops and tastings of wine, among other events that will bring an added animation to the streets of Portimão.

In addition to mobilizing the city around the Rota do Petisco, this program counts on the participation of various cultural agents in the municipality, which in this way contribute to the event gaining greater relevance as a cultural and recreational project, which disseminates the best spaces of traditional restoration while giving space to local artists.

This second edition also invites new experiences, through partnerships established with Bike Postal and Bike My Side, two innovative projects that are emerging in Portimão and that will allow you to travel the Route in a different way.

Very recently created by two young people from Portimo, Bike Postal (www.bikepostal.com) will promote two free bike rides along Rota do Petisco, on a circuit that will cover the five most voted restaurants on the Portimão Cycle Chic Facebook page, while Bike My Side (www.bikemyside.com) pre-launches tours in a side car, presenting a route to discover the Route in an original means of transport, for two people, at a promotional price of 30 euros.

The vast cultural and artistic program will be guided by street entertainment, cocktail workshops, commented wine tastings, live music, etc.

Between a snack and a dessert, the Exhibition Route will allow the exhibition at various participating establishments to be able to appreciate works by local artists, in the areas of painting, modeling, photography and sculpture.

The Route will also make known other cultural initiatives already scheduled for different public spaces in the municipality, namely the old auction house, the Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes or the bandstand at Praça Manuel Teixeira Gomes.

 

Color and flavor palette

The 41 participating establishments will be organized into five pedestrian zones, identified by the colors blue, yellow, green and red (Portimão) and orange (Praia da Rocha), to make it easier for participants to plan their gastronomic incursions.

Of the total number of establishments, 32 will integrate the Snack modality, consisting of a snack and a drink at a unit price of €2.50, with the remaining nine participating in the Regional Sweet modality, which will consist of a dessert and a drink and will have a unit price of €2.00.

To whet your appetite, some suggestions: in the Zona Azul (riverside area of ​​Portimão) you can taste the Cob Papinhas, Fish Soup or Feijoada de Búzios; in the Yellow Zone (historic center of the city) you can cross some Pataniscas de Bacalhau with a Gaspacho or even with the famous Bifana; still in the historic center (Green Zone) reside – among other delicacies – the Lulinhas, the Xalassa de Atum and the original Patés from the Algarve; further south (Red Zone) coexist the Octopus Salad, the Lingueirão Feijoada and the enigmatic Pica-fish; During the Route, the color of Praia da Rocha will be orange and, among others, the flavors of Peixe Alimado, Patanisca de Sardinha or Tuna Marcado à Algarvia will reign supreme.

Distributed throughout the different areas, there are many regional sweets, such as Tortinha de Laranja, Doce de Alfarroba or Queijinho de Figo.

 

A Passport – Many Advantages

The Passport of the Route is the indispensable tool for discovering this route, because it has the coordinates for participants to enjoy everything the initiative has to offer, in addition to providing additional advantages, such as discounts at commercial establishments that also wanted to join the initiative.

Available at the various participating locations, the Passport can also be obtained free of charge at the Tourist Office and at the Museum of Portimão, and it is also possible to print a simplified version (Pocket Passport) on the Teia D'Impulsos website.

By collecting 15 stamps in their passport, participants will be entitled to a gift for participating in the Route, consisting of a voucher to visit the Museum of Portimão for two people, also qualifying for several prizes to be drawn: 24 double vouchers for a visit to one wine cellar with wine tasting; 2 double theme park vouchers to choose from; 1 Vitalplan smile insurance (1 year); 4 experiences for two people in sidecar tours by Bike my side; 4 candle baptisms for two people.

Over the 30 days of the 1st Route, 9723 menus were sold, with 7932 snacks (82%) and 1791 regional sweets (18%), which resulted in a direct economic impact of around 23.400 euros, to which the opportunity must be added promotion that all establishments had and the loyalty of new consumers.

For this second edition, and in addition to the partnership with the Municipality of Portimão, the organization has the support of Turismo de Portimão, the Parish Council of Portimão, Turismo do Algarve, ACRAL, the Algarve Wine Commission, Super -Bock and First Aid, highlighting the support for the dissemination of the media partners Rádio Costa D'Oiro and the newspaper Barlavento.
