For four lively days and nights, full of mystery, the village of Castro Marim becomes a page torn from a history book. It will be between the 23rd and 26th of August that Castro Marim will return to Medieval Days.

In an environment fully adapted to medieval times, visitors set off on a journey in the time machine to an era inhabited by kings and queens, nobles and monks, fearless knights and monsters.

Cavalry tournaments, arts and crafts shows, theatrical and musical shows, banquets and taverns with their seasonal delicacies are some of the moments in this unforgettable cultural, gastronomic and entertainment program.

This four-day and four-night visit to the mysterious Middle Ages begins with the medieval parade, in which thousands of people and hundreds of extras participate, all of them dressed up, displaying the costumes characteristic of each of the social classes of the time: o clergy, nobility, bourgeoisie and people.

The village streets become narrow to welcome all those who want to watch the parade pass, as well as the outdoor performances of jesters, tightrope walkers, fire-breathers, jugglers, snake charmers, storytellers and contortionists.

The Liça do Castelo de Castro Marim is the privileged stage for emotional staged exhibitions, with medieval tournaments on arms and on horseback. The performances of dexterity and color with choreography of flags and the medieval musical walks through the streets and squares of the castle promise moments of magic.

During the festivities, the arts and crafts of the time will be recreated inside the walls, with most of these recreations carried out by skilled artisans from the county who will give live demonstrations of the ancient professions of the time such as shearer, barber, blacksmith, cobbler, cooper and furrier.

Always awaited with great anticipation, the banquets gather hundreds of diners inside the Castelo Velho, delighting all those who taste the gastronomy of the time and its delicacies.

Under the mysterious light of torches and the sound of classical guitar, guests are surprised by a medieval menu where there is no lack of period dishes and desserts, accompanied by wine, black beer and cider.

The Medieval Days of Castro Marim end with a fireworks show that will awaken participants to this dream lived with eyes open and in color.

Tickets cost between 2,5 euros, for children from 6 to 11 years old, and 5 euros, from 12 years old on. Medieval Days take place between 15pm and midnight.
