The Parliamentary Group of the PCP questioned the Government about the legality of the issue by Infarmed of the transfer license of the Maria Sequeira Pharmacy, which operated for about 90 years in this locality, «namely with regard to the binding nature of the opinion of the Municipality of Silves , who opposed the transfer of that pharmacy'.

The move of the only existing pharmacy in Alcantarilha to Armação de Pêra, a bathing and tourist area that belongs to the same parish, caused discomfort and criticism from the elected representatives and population of Alcantarilha. "Thus, Alcantarilha was left without any pharmacy to serve a population of 2.540 inhabitants spread over an area of 25 square kilometers," summarized the PCP.

"Infarmed issued the Maria Sequeira Pharmacy Transfer Permit on May 25, 2012, despite the Silves City Council unanimously speaking on June 22, 2011, against the transfer of said pharmacy." it is read in the application presented by the deputies Paulo Sá, elected by the circle of Algarve and Paula Santos..

Thus, the provisions of article 26 of Decree-Law no. 307/2007, of 31 August, amended by Law no. 26/2011, of 16 June, will not have been respected by Infarmed, namely, the rule that establishes that “the authorization of the transfer of pharmacy is subject to a prior opinion of the competent city council due to the territory”, which opinion, when unfavorable, is binding.
