Luís Vicente will perform the play «Cavalo Manco não Trota» on the 25th of August, at 22 pm, at the XIV Festa do Teatro in Setúbal, in a show taking place at Escola Sebastião da Gama Secondary School.
It is the latest production from The Algarve Theater Company (ACTA), which, after having premiered in the Algarve, is now performing outside the region.
The text, written by the Spanish journalist Luiz del Val, is summarized as follows: when the judge asks if the defendant considers himself guilty or innocent, Miguel Torres (the character Luís Vicente plays) is quickly sent to a whirlwind of memories that begin in childhood, precisely at the age of eight, when he was asked the same question for the first time, and end in the moment and in the circumstances in which he finds himself now, almost forty years later.
It is the film of his life that he revisits in his memory in seconds, but which in the narrative lasts about an hour. His childhood conflicts, his parents' flight from his home, the youth of a student from humble beginnings at the university and later as a sailor, the impossible loves and the destroyed loves, his performance as a corrupt civil builder… his son's death. Everything is called for a personal “settling of scores”, at once amusing, ironic and bitter.
Tickets cost 7 euros for the general public, or 5 euros for students, under 25, over 65.
