Music and dance from around the world will meet me faro between August 18th and 26th, in the 10th edition of Folkfaro. Teatro das Figuras will once again host the Festival's Opening Gala, which will take place on August 18, a Saturday, at 21 pm.
In an edition with a round number, the poster features folk groups from Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Peru, Republic of Karelia (Russia), Ukraine and Romania.
Our country will be represented by two formations in the Algarve, the Folklore Group of Faro and the child of Faro. From other parts of the country come the Folklore Group of Santa Marta de Portuzelo (Alto Minho) and the Folklore Groups of Benfica do Ribatejo (Ribatejo), Zebreiros (Douro Litoral) and Praias do Sado (Extremadura)
On the other side of the Atlantic Ocean will come the Grupo Parafolclórica Frutos da Terra, from Brazil and the Qhaswa group, from Lima, Peru. From Europe, Spain will be represented by the Estampas Burgalesas formation, from Burgos, Ukraine by the Volynyanka group, from Lutsk , Romania by the group Doina Timisului, from Timisoara, and the Republic of Karelia by Zorayne, from Petrazovodsk.
There will also be special participations from various formations and entities, namely Novas Vozes do Fado, the Dance Club of Escola Secundária João de Deus, Luís Rocha – Música & Humor, popular musician Zé Maria Sandra Cristo & Filipe Neves and a play and Theater to be defined.
