About a hundred boats, all of them decorated, were waiting this Wednesday afternoon for the arrival of the procession with the image of Nossa Senhora da Conceição next to the Salva-Vidas station in Ferragudo.
The wall became too small for a crowd that wanted to see the enshrinement of a tradition reborn the year before. Many cameras archived the images for a future of history that is always good to preserve and remember. And not even the rain that fell throughout the day demobilized the party.
The procession then embarked on several boats that circled between Docapesca and Praia Grande, in an emotional image for those who still remembered how this fisherman's party in Ferragudo was more than fifty years ago.
The procession disembarked at Salva Vidas, following the old route to the Church, as always with the blessing of boats and fishermen.
Luís Alberto, chairman of the Parish Council of Ferragudo, an autarchy that resumed this tradition three years ago, has already guaranteed that it is now «impossible to go back, because from now on the party is here to stay, and each year will be better and with more popular participation".
At night, in the Largo da Angrinha, tents with food and drinks and music to cheer the hearts on vacation, gave the revelers reason to release their joy dancing and talking to groups of friends. Even without the usual fireworks, due to cost containment, the party was tough.
The festivities in honor of Nossa Senhora da Conceição, patron saint of the parish, are part of the summer program called «Ferragudo em Festa». promoted by that autarchy.
