The second edition of the FARCUME Short Film Festival of Faro, will take place from the 23rd to the 25th of August at the Hotel and Tourism School in the Algarve capital.

There will be more than 12 hours of cinema, divided into four categories - Animation, Documentary, Fiction and Videoclips -, where the public will have access to short films with many known actors awarded at renowned festivals such as Fantasporto and other well-known international film festivals that occur in the USA, France, Japan, Brazil, Argentina and Spain.

In parallel to the movie show, there will be a photography exhibition under the theme «Faro: Identity & Heritage».

At the end of each session, there will be parties that the organization hopes will provide “good moments of interaction between the audience, actors and directors”.

This festival, under the responsibility of Faro 1540 – Association for the Defense and Promotion of the Environmental and Cultural Heritage of Faro, received a total of 84 short films, which translates into an increase of almost 200% compared to the previous edition.

According to the organization, this is «a clear indicator of the interest and curiosity that this festival has been arousing in this area», having already arrived in Brazil, which this year has a very significant representation of works.

The purpose of the FABRUARY it involves «seeking, within an informal, cheerful and relaxed environment, to reward and recognize the dedication, commitment, creativity and merit of the directors, actors and technical teams who, with limited means, manage to develop work of great quality».

The organization intends that this initiative “gross gradually in order to transform itself in the short term into a reference short film festival in the south of the country, making known and launching new talents, in addition to promoting and promoting it with the the excellent works that are carried out in this area, but which do not always have the desired and deserved publicity».

The selected works will be exhibited and evaluated by a Jury composed of three people and their evaluation will have a weight of 60% about the final decision. The rest 40% will be in charge of the audience present at the different sessions, who will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite short films at the venue.
