"I have already appealed the decision to the Supreme Administrative Court itself," said Macário Correia this evening to Sul Informação, reacting to the news that the STA decreed its loss of municipal mandate.
The mayor of Faro he added, in statements to our newspaper, that he will release a public clarification on the matter very soon.
The PSD mayor recalled that the facts now considered illegal "were already considered as legal by two other courts", reason why he will not accept the decision.
Macário Correia added that he was "caught by surprise with this situation" while he was on a trip to Brussels, which is why he sends his public clarification for later.
O Sul Informação found that, in political terms, it will be the national leadership of the PSD to take a position on this case, since Macário Correia is one of the most prominent national social democratic mayors and mayor in the district capital.
