Two medium amphibious bomber planes have already been activated, at 15:17 pm, to help fight the fire that started this afternoon, around 14:10 pm, in the area of ​​Catraia, in the Tavira mountains.

Fire, which has two active fronts, is evolving very quickly, due to the heat and wind that is felt. Therefore, in addition to the two planes, which are joining the heavy bomber helicopter, which began its operations around 14:38 pm, reinforcements from Beja and Évora have also been deployed.

Thus, according to the Civil Protection website, the Beja and Évora Reinforcement Groups to Fight Forest Fires (GRIF) were called.

The fire is being fought by 137 men, including 112 firefighters and 11 GIPS, assisted by 35 vehicles.

This is the second large fire in the Algarve in two days, after the fire that yesterday destroyed a vast area of ​​woods near Bordeira, Aljezur, and which ended up being extinguished during the night.
