César Campaniço and Ni Amorim took 2nd place on the podium at the European FIA GT3 in the races held this Sunday at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve.
Hopes were still pinned on Álvaro Parente's performance in the second GT1 race, but unfortunately the Portuguese driver would be forced to retire, with problems with his McLaren.
Thus, the Mercedes SLS Pastorelli/Jager duo came out victorious in GT1, followed by Basseng/Winkelhock, also in a Mercedes SLS, and which yesterday won the Qualification Race. Mkowiecki / Dusseldorp at McLaren closed third place on the podium.
In the GT3, César Campaniço and Ni Amorim in the Audi R8 LMS secured 2nd place and their ambition is to reach victories very soon. But in the Algarve, the winners were Mengesdorf/Proczyk at Lamborghini Gallardo.
“It was a good result for us. We are very happy and now focused on reaching the victories. the first part of the race was difficult because we had a lot of overtaking, but it was all worth it. The car was very competitive and we are working to improve even more”, said the Portuguese drivers Campaniço and Amorim.
In the Championship of Portugal of Circuits | Iberian Supercars Series, it was Guidi Alessandro's turn to score twice. The driver who this weekend teamed up with João Pedro Figueiredo, in the Ferrari 458, was forced to race alone due to Figueiredo's absence, but that didn't stop him from winning. Victory that he dedicated to his teammate who faces family problems.
In the Single Seaters, another victory for Fernando Mayer Gaspar, in a Van Diemen RF 98Z.
In the Classics, L. Barros was the winner with a Porsche 930 Turbo.
