Portimonense team captain Ricardo Pessoa will leave the club after seven seasons wearing the black and white jersey. The friendly termination of the contract was announced this afternoon on Portimonense's official website, which claims that the right-back's salary level will be unaffordable for the club next season.

According to the note published on the website, "this outcome is due to the financial contingencies that the club sees itself in, regardless of whether or not it continues in the Second League, being unaffordable, in the next season, to maintain the same level of salary as the athlete Ricardo Pessoa ».

The club emphasizes that «the quick outcome also happens because we recognize Ricardo Pessoa as a true team captain, having demonstrated over the years an irreproachable conduct, both professionally and personally».
Therefore, the direction of the club understood not to "harm the athlete, knowing that he will join a Premier League club, which also attests to the quality of many of the players who have defended the Portimonense institution."
The club alvinegro, however, leaves the door open for an eventual return of Ricardo Pessoa to Portimão.

"We wish you all the best during your career and the doors are open for an eventual return of our captain", concludes the note.

According to the sports press, Ricardo Pessoa will play for Moreirense in 2012/2013.

This is the fourth friendly termination of athletes from Portimonense after Jules Goda, Daniel Lemos and David Souza also agreed to leave the Algarve club.
