The beaches of the municipality of Faro recipients of the Blue Flag received yesterday, June 18, the raising of the flag ceremony, in a symbolic and distinguished moment of the efforts of the municipality to provide these beaches with the best conditions for their users.

The ceremony was attended by the Administration of the Hydrographic Region of the Algarve, Regional Health Administration of the Algarve, Captaincy of Porto de Faro, Captaincy of the Port of Olhão, Sé Parish Council, Montenegro Parish Council and the Municipality of Faro.

on the beach of Faro, were flown to Blue flag and Accessible Beach Flag, and then the Blue Flag was flown at Praia Barreta, Praia Farol-Mar and Culatra-Mar Beach.

Since 1987, the City Council has applied for the award. The commitment shown by the various executive bodies of the Municipality of Faro, public entities, associations and holders of bathing and beach support in the county has been recognized and awarded through the attribution of this award.

This award is given by the Blue Flag Association of Europe and is evaluated by criteria such as environmental education, bathing water quality, management of the bathing area and services and safety.

The City Council has been ensuring surveillance and aquatic rescue through the reinforcement of lifeguards in the county, having placed three beach posts in Praia de Faro and a post on the beach at Ilha da Culatra.
