Between August 3rd and 11th, the Sardine Festival will present many changes, with all paths converging on the Parque de Feiras e Exposições de Portimão, whose doors will open between 18:30 and 01:00.

For nine nights, the most emblematic gastronomic festival in Portugal takes on a new lease of life in its 18th edition, in a journey that begins to be recreated next to the Portimão Museum, traversing the memories of the canning industry, and culminating in the Fairs and Exhibitions Park, where entertainment, music, handicrafts, gastronomy, sweets, fado, art, humor, street theater and a light and fantasy show will be daily doubled reasons for a mandatory visit.

In fact, every day, at 18:30 pm, the stop “There are Sardines on the Wharf”, by the Chapitô group, it will tell the story of the canning industry along the banks of the river Arade, where the whistle of the siren of the former Feu factory, now the Museum of Portimão, will be the starting point for this trip that no one will want to miss.

Eight restaurants with a total capacity of 2.500 seats will be available to visitors at the Parque de Feiras e Exposições de Portimão, as well as more than a hundred stands spread over 90 exhibitors, featuring handicrafts and typical products will have great relief.

Since sardines are king, this famous delicacy will be served on bread, with boiled potatoes and the traditional Algarve salad, accompanied by a good wine. A varied menu, from meat to fish, will provide options for all tastes and a variety of national snacks will be present in the agri-food area, with emphasis on the traditional chorizo ​​bread, sausages, cheeses and many other flavors, which stand out the irresistible sweets.

The new concept of the event involves street entertainment with the code man, the man of the seven instruments, in a surprising and agile performance, as well as by the performances of the group capito, but also for the existence of three stages with a lot of animation.

No Stage Fado and Snacks, the voices of our people can be heard in the bohemian atmosphere of a typical riverside tavern, and on August 6th and 7th the stage will give way to new talents Lol Fest Open Mic – Lol Fest casting, in which the best earn 10 minutes of fame.

No Sardine Stage, the varieties will be many and every day different sounds will pass through, from music to humor, going through folklore or jazz, while The Desbundixies promise contagious moments of joy and good mood, just like the project The nice (Marisa Fortes + Djoy).

Humor takes shape with the stand-up cooking “Comídia”, integrated in the lol fest special sardines, which in two fun nights will guarantee lots of laughs, mixed with a wooden spoon and a renowned Chef.

Highlight for the poster of the artists who will be uploaded to the Main stage: Monica Ferraz, MissyM (Strawberry with sugar), Xico Cockroach, LOL Fest with renowned comedians, Herman josé, Serafim and many others, boss AC, Rock Air & Special Guests e Black panties, ending each night with a laser show, pyrotechnics, sound and fantasy and the parade of surprising characters.

The children's entertainment has a space for the little ones, where there will be no shortage of inflatables, a carousel, a mini ferris wheel and moments of pure fun for all children, not to mention two spaces dedicated to playful and creative activities, in which the Creative Time Workshop and Pedagogical Farm will be the big attractions.

 

Pre-sale with cheaper tickets

Until July 15, there is a pre-sale period for tickets, which can be purchased at the Portimão Tourist Office (Rua 5 Outubro) and at the Urban Rehabilitation Shop (Av. S. João Deus) with the following price list: Family Ticket (1 day/4 people) – 13,50 euros, Festival Ticket (valid for nine days) – 25 euros and Individual Ticket – 3,50 euros, and it is also possible to buy tickets online at www.blueticket.pt.

From July 16th, tickets cost 5 euros, with the Family Ticket costing 16 euros and the Festival Ticket at a unit price of 30 euros, with the new Three-Day Ticket ticket at 14 euros. Admission is free for children up to 10 years old.

Also within the scope of the Sardine Festival, an “Unforgettable Day in Portimão” package was launched, which includes, in addition to other activities during the day, a visit to the Festival with dinner and show, available for groups over 1 people, with transportation included.

The Exhibition and Fairs Park of Portimão will also host, between July 11th and September 2nd, the exhibition “The World of Dinosaurs”, a playful and educational space for all ages, where the large reptiles of the “Jurassic Park” can be seen up close.
