Deputies Mendes Bota, Pedro Roque, Elsa Cordeiro and Cristóvão Norte, PSD parliamentarians elected by the Algarve, expressed their rejoicing for the public statement by the Deputy Minister and Parliamentary Affairs, on behalf of the Government, which guaranteed that funds will be allocated from the State Budget to ensure the integration of the Algarve throughout the entire extension of the “Impulso Jovem” Program launched last week.

The Algarve social democrats recall that «this programme, in its first version, did not include funds for the Algarve in the Passaporte Emprego, as the funding for this aspect of the plan comes from the ERDF, and the region is not eligible for this fund community because it is in a transitional regime of the Convergence Objective, commonly known as “Phasing-out”».

With this decision, the PSD deputies guarantee that “a few more million euros will be transferred to the Algarve, applying the full extent of this decisive and relevant strategic plan to mitigate the perverse effects of unemployment that plagues the region, and to offer answers more robust, comprehensive and broad, which will fit many young people in the Algarve into the labor market».

In this way, given the fact that the Algarve is the region with the highest rate of unemployment at national level, «an exceptional response, designed exclusively for the region, was created, and which attests that the Government is sensitized and committed to taking energetic measures appropriate to the economic and social crisis that the Algarve is experiencing», stress the four parliamentarians.

The deputies of the PSD, elected by the Algarve, understand that “measures must be designed that take into account the particularities of the region, its economic and social fabric and its productive base, based on tourism but not only, and which require concrete responses to strengthen the its competitiveness and relaunch the regional economy”.
