About 10 tons of garbage were collected in Lagos as part of the National Day of the Hunter for the Environment. The initiative took place on the 27th of May and was attended by dozens of hunters and various entities representing the regional power.

The usual day of hunters in cleaning up the nature is already in its 8th edition and, since its inception, the Municipality of Lagos has participated in this voluntary cleaning action, carried out in collaboration with the affiliated associations, clubs and hunting tourism companies in the Federation of Hunters of the Algarve (FCA), which takes place in hunting, agricultural and forest areas in the Algarve region.

This year, the initiative was attended by several entities in Lagos, namely, the regional director of Forests António Miranda (who was also representing the secretary of state for Forests and Rural Development), the regional director of Agriculture and Algarve Fisheries Fernando Severino and the president of the Federation of Hunters of the Algarve Vítor Palmilha.

Also present were the deputy mayor of the City Council António Marreiros, the president of the Municipal Assembly of Lagos Paulo Morgado and the vice-president of the Board of Directors of the Clube de Caçadores de Lagos, José Manuel Furtado.

The action, which began at 8:00 am, also included the participation of 35 hunters from Lagos in their own vehicles and some vehicles made available both by the municipality and by the Multi-Services company.

At the end of the morning, around 10 tons of garbage had already been collected, more specifically, 9.600 kg of garbage, a value that surpassed, by 1400 kg, the amount collected last year.

The initiative ended in a festive atmosphere, considering that this day was also the 28th anniversary of the Clube de Caçadores de Lagos.
