They are from the house and there is hardly anyone who can boast of having been to more Algarve Academic Weeks than them. «Xutos e Pontapés» return to «País das Maravilhas», which they know so well, this Saturday night, in a concert that promises to be well attended, taking into account previous editions of the event.

The iconic Portuguese band has been in almost all 27 editions of Semana Académica and their shows are invariably marked by floods and a meeting of several generations. This time, the Portuguese group will share the stage with the locals «O Ludo» and the band «The Quest». DJ Christian F. will liven up the electronic tent, well into the night.

This is the second night of concerts of the 2012 Algarve Academic Week. Yesterday, Friday, the main figure was José Cid, who got many of the audience singing his best-known songs in chorus. And not even the rain that fell during the show discouraged the revelers.

José Cid had already been in Faro, at the university party, three years ago and yesterday, in a conversation with journalists, he recalled a curious episode. «In the middle of the audience there was a huge sign that said: “Thank you Bonga” and I didn't understand why. I came to realize that people liked it a lot when Bonga was held up in Africa and I came to replace it,” he recalled.

The concert had strong public participation and many sang in chorus songs released before they were born. «My songs are timeless and I also interpret them in a timeless way. In my time I was way ahead and only now I am truly in my time», considered José Cid.

Today, from 14:30 pm, pay attention to the website of the Sul Informação, as we're offering a double ticket for tonight's concert.

José Cid joined the Solidarity Week

In the solidarity aspect, CASA was the institution supported by José Cid, which will offer a personalized piece to the Algarve IPSS. Tonight, Apatris 21 will be the entity that will be supported, as part of the Solidarity Week.

IPSS representative Artur Brito who received the gift from José Cid stressed the collaboration with Associação Académica, "which is already behind" and sees in this campaign "an opportunity to collect some funds and publicize what we do". “We don't have any state support, we live exclusively from volunteering and from the funds that we manage to raise”, he explained.

The institution, which is dedicated to helping the homeless and other citizens in need, now supports 1500 people, "when a year ago there would have been no more than 500". The crisis dictated an exponential increase in the number of beneficiaries, but also in what CASA needs to be able to continue its charitable work.
