Lagos sailors compete in the 2012 Optimist World Championship

Two sailors from the Lagos Sailing Club will integrate the national team, in the World Optimist Championship 2012, which will take place from 15 to 26 July, in the Dominican Republic. This clearance took the Municipality of Lagos to unanimously approve, at the last Council Meeting, a Vote of Congratulation to Clube de Vela. 

According to the vote approved, the municipality “publicly congratulates the Clube de Vela de Lagos” for having won the 2012 Portuguese Youth Championship in the Optimist class, through its young sailor Tiago Serra, which in this way was crowned National Champion, on the 1st of May, ensuring direct access to the 2012 World Championship.

The Chamber also congratulates another sailor from the Clube de Vela de Lagos, Rodolfo Pires, which ranked 3rd in this same Portuguese Championship, also gaining access to that world event.

In this way, another notable sporting feat was achieved by athletes from Lacobrigenses, leaving the national team, which will have five elements in this 2012 World Championship, represented by two sailors from the Clube de Vela de Lagos.

“The local authority and the City of Lagos, in this way, pay a deserved and fair tribute to those two young athletes who, by their effort, motivation, perseverance and sporting virtues, once again gave remarkable importance to the sport of Lacobrigense, in the modality of the candle. The Municipality of Lagos extends its recognition to the Board, the coach and the families of the athletes of the Clube de Vela de Lagos who, by their great dedication to the cause of sports associations, made possible the conditions for such remarkable sporting achievements to have been achieved. ”.
