The fado singer from Olhão, Sara Gonçalves, will perform on Saturday, June 2, at 21:30 pm, at the Municipal Auditorium of Olhão, to present her new work: “Sara Gonçalves Sings Frederico Valério”.

“Sara Gonçalves sings Frederico Valério” is a show that aims to honor one of the greatest composers ever and one of the first scholars to write for fado and to spend seven years on Broadway as the author of the musicals “On With The Show” and “Hit The Trail”.

Accompanied by fado viola, Portuguese guitar, double bass and possibly accordion, the fado singer will have the company of some friends. Fados will be heard such as “My first love (Twenty Years)”, “Fado do Jealousy”, “May God Forgive Me” or “I confess”.

In January, at the presentation of the Olhão Municipal Auditorium schedule, Sara Gonçalves explained that Frederico Valério «was the first scholar to write for fado. This show of mine will have an hour and a half, with accordion and double bass, in addition to the usual guitar and viola. It will be an opportunity to show a more emotional aspect of me».

Sara Gonçalves, in 2011, starred in the project “Sara Gonçalves & Os Alma”, which was successful in several national halls with the show “Com o Fado na Alma”. The fado singer performed on stage by Carlos Amarelinho, Ricardo Carvalho, Laurentiu Zapciroiu, Rui Martins and Diogo Carvalho, the elements of this project.

The young woman from Olhano is part of the new generation of fado singers and has been distinguished by a very unique style of interpreting the so-called national song, combining traditional melodies with sounds full of destiny and nostalgia.
