The 2012 Promenade Concerts Cycle comes to an end next Sunday, May 20, with a concert taking place at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro, at 12:00 pm, and later, at the Municipal Auditorium of Lagoa, at 16:30 pm.

With musical direction by Pedro Neves, the last concert is dedicated to the orchestral “tutti”, that is, to the full orchestra. The repertoire will be centered on two works: The flowering deer – Narrated tale for children about the story of António Torrado – the fourth work of its kind that composer Sérgio Azevedo writes for narrator and orchestra.

According to him “a simple story, which is nothing more than a parable about freedom (and what happens when it is deprived of it)”. Finally, Pedro and the Wolf de Prokofiev, a story involving animals, each personified by a different instrument in the orchestra. The story is told by a narrator, Pedro, his grandfather, and the animals of the forest, including the Russian Big Bad Wolf.

Under the motto “Famílias em Concerto”, the 2012 Promenade Concerts Cycle covered, through five programs, the various instrumental families: strings, wood, brass, percussion and, finally, the complete orchestra.

As in previous years, the competition final will be held with the prize draw. Em Faro, the prize consists of a “Music Training Package” (Offer of registration + three monthly fees for lessons of an instrument of your choice – guitar, bass, drums and piano), with the support of the Live Music store (Musical Instruments, Sound and Live Stage). In Lagoa, the prize consists of an inscription at the Lagoa Music Conservatory, with the support of the local authority.

With narration and presentation by Susana Paixão, the Promenade Concerts Cycle is an initiative of Orquestra do Algarve, sponsored by Caixa Geral de Depósitos and the support of Teatro Municipal de Faro and the City Council of Lagoa.
