JSD organized, on April 28th, at the University of Algarve's Campus de Gambelas, in Faro, a training action called «Saber+, Social-Democrat Training Course».

Throughout the day, around 80 young people from the Algarve, Alentejo, Lisbon and Leiria had the opportunity to attend classes on political ideology, JSD and PSD structures and also participate in working groups.

During the morning, Pedro Rodrigues, former president of JSD, gave a class on the PSD and JSD, namely its emergence, the values on which they are based and the evolution that both structures have had in recent decades.

Also in the morning, André Pardal, current vice president of JSD, spoke to the “students” about the functioning of the structure and how it is organized.

Carlos Coelho, MEP elected by the PSD, spoke to the “students” during the lunch/conference promoted within the scope of this course and highlighted two fundamental points: the policy of values and the refusal of linearity.

"Politics must always be guided by values, without them we lose the coherence and consistency of our intervention" pointed out Carlos Coelho, who then carried out an exercise where he explained that he rejects the linear and simplistic classification of public intervention by politicians and your actions. “We cannot deal with a complex issue in a simplistic way”, stressed the MEP.

The speaker from the Algarve was Cristóvão Norte, who made a portrait of the problems facing the Algarve and noted the initiatives being developed in Parliament with a view to alleviating them.

In the afternoon, the “students” were divided into groups and constructed a proposal for a global political motion for candidacy for a fictitious council political commission, which was then debated in plenary and voted on.

In the closing session, Eduardo Almeida, president of JSD/Faro, defended the training and noted that his council has made a great effort in this area.

Bruno Inácio, president of JSD/Algarve, drew attention to some of the problems currently affecting young people in the Algarve, with a special focus on the issue of unemployment, having asked the various deputies present to give their utmost attention to this scourge.

Duarte Marques, president of JSD, stated that “training is in JSD's DNA and that is why JSD will always be the voice of young people with the PSD and not the other way around”.
