The debate «Algarve v. Talks», in talk-show format, will take place on May 28, from 21 pm, at Hotel da Aldeia, Areias de S. João, in Albufeira, organized by the Algarve Delegation of the Ordem dos Arquitetos, in collaboration with the Municipality of Albufeira, through the Urban Rehabilitation Office – GRUA.

The event appears following a comparative study, within the scope of the National Technological Plan for the Urban Rehabilitation of the Algarve's urban tourism fabric, aimed at identifying the ambitions and performance of a generation of citizens who practice in a post-economic crisis scenario.

Architects, urban planners, politicians and citizens will meet to debate the announced alternative trajectories to the traditional practice of Architecture and Urbanism, having as its motto the different urban, environmental and tourist agendas, contradicting, or not, the idea of ​​a production that uses and abuses of the most diverse modern constructions such as “public interest”, “public space”, “technocracy”, “planning” and “planning”.

The session takes place in a classic talk-show format and has as guest presenters the architect Ricardo Camacho, scholarship holder from the Luso-American Foundation and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, and Paula Melâneo, editor of the magazine Arquitetura, and includes comments from the professors Ivan Rupnik and Dan Adams from Boston University, USA, and Professor Kiel Moe, from Harvard University.

The debate will focus on the rehabilitation of the tourist fabric of Albufeira, namely in the areas of Fort S. João, Oura, Areias de S. João and Montechoro.
