The location is the same as many other Academic Weeks (SA) of the University of Algarve, but those who visit the «País das Maravilhas» between the 3rd and 12th of May will discover an unprecedented venue. This year there is no synthetic grass, which was useful in other editions to support the most unbalanced or even to play a football game in the afternoon, but there will be an Electronic Tent with a privileged view and a more intimate atmosphere.
O Sul Informação had access to the layout of this new venue, located in the Penha Sports Complex, which he discloses at first hand. A «Wonderland» that once again has only one stage, to rationalize costs, but that does not lose its usual characteristics.
«It will be an area with many features. We will have a main stage area completely separate from the electronics area. We will also have an area for entities», Pedro Barros revealed to our newspaper the president of the Academic Association of the University of Algarve (AAUAlg).
In 2012, SA assumes a solidary character and will dedicate each night of concerts to a different Private Institution of Social Solidarity (IPSS). The bands are associated with this campaign, donating unique material, which the entities can then monetize.
«At first glance, we could think: how are we going to put the Academic Week here? But, after all the framing, it was a well-organized place, with all the safety and well-being conditions ensured», he added.
This venue includes part of what was often used, using the football field there, but was left without the considerable piece of land that this sports space added to it. On the other hand, the car park and staircase near the entrance to the Municipal Swimming Pools and the vacant lot between the Pavilhão Gimnodesportivo and the former entrance to the enclosure become part of the «Wonderland Country».
“I think the public area is very welcoming. I also like the fact that the Electronic Tent is on top of a higher area, which allows those up there to have a very interesting view of the enclosure», stated Pedro Barros.
Morphology aside, the terrain will also feature an intense entertainment program, which will put visitors into a wide range of activities, from console game championships to table football tournaments, passing through competitions for the most radical haircuts , with attractive prizes.
