The Mundialito 2012, the biggest children's football tournament in the world, which is taking place in Vila Real de Santo António, was visited this morning by a delegation from Qatar who came to know the dynamics of the tournament, with a view to its decentralization.

During the tour, the delegation praised what they considered to be the "good example" of Vila Real, now that the event should have two annual editions: one in Vila Real de Santo António, during Easter, and another at the end of the year. , in Qatar.

"Our goal is to integrate players who can no longer participate in the Mundialito de VRSA, which is reserved for children up to age 11/12, providing continuity for young people in higher levels," notes the founder of Mundialito Ricardo Godoy.

«In addition to making the event grow, we are creating synergies, promoting the tourist and sporting activities of Vila Real de Santo António and its Mundialito abroad and vice versa», continued Godoy.

The Qatar delegation, headed by representative Abdelqader al Moghaisseb, was enthusiastic about the dynamics of the logistics that ensure the tournament and said they are committed to making Mundialito “an ambassador for the 2022 World Cup edition, which will take place at the Qatar'.

Also present at the ceremony, the councilor of the VRSA City Council with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Conceição Cabrita, said that the «accumulated experience of the event in Vila Real de Santo António is showing benefits» and believes that the Mundialito brand «has potential to assert itself more and more».
