An Experimental Drawing Workshop will take place on Sunday, the 22nd, at the former Escola Primária Escola do Barranco da Vaca, about 7 kilometers to Aljezur.
The workshop, promoted by the cultural associations Xerém and Tertúlia, will be led by Susana de Medeiros, plastic artist and professor at the University of Algarve, and will take place between 11:00 and 16:00.
During the morning, participants will take a short trip to Vale das Amoreiras and approach the sketch drawing in small blocks – the so-called 'sketchbooks' or 'notebooks'- drawing the anatomical shapes and the different positions assumed by donkeys of different sizes and 'personalities'.
In the afternoon, already at the old school, they will use the imagery present in plastic works by different artists – such as Goya's engravings or Paula Rego's early stage paintings – which build visual narratives personifying animals – to develop various exercises using collage. The meeting point will be at the old school at 11:00 am.
To participate, no drawing experience is required.
A enrollment it costs 12 euros per session for non-members of the Xerém and Tertúlia associations (which they promote) or 10 euros for members.
Required Material:
-a hardboard to serve as a basis for the designs abroad,
-1 or two springs to secure the paper to the clipboard,
-A5 sheets of books prepared with a layer of white acrylic,
- several A5 or A4 sheets (or a block with A5 or A4 sheets) weighing more than 90 g,
-1 black cardboard,
- A1 sheets (2 sheets) and A2 sheets (2 sheets) with weight equal to or greater than 150g,
- sheets of tracing paper,
-different collage papers,
-watercolors or ecolines,
- black and sepia china ink (or similar),
-several brushes,
-graphite pencil|colored pencil, charcoal, 3 dry pastels or 3 oil pastels);
-black and two-color markers of various thicknesses,
-rubber, scissors, UHU glue and paper tape
-food and drink for lunch (we'll have lunch together on the patio or inside
school depending on the weather).
There will be coffee, tea and muffins.
