The first official racing event of 2012 at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve has come to an end. The weekend was filled with disputed competitions, with many fights, in which the Portuguese occupied a prominent place.

After yesterday's first races, this Sunday the second heats took place, both for the GT Open and Spanish GT Championship, and for the Formula 2 and European F3 Championship.

After yesterday's victory at the GT Open, Marco Holzer/Nick Tandy in the Porsche 997 GT3 returned today to repeat the feat with an advantage of over 17 seconds over runners-up Raymond Narac/Patrick Pilet, also in a Porsche GT3, and also far removed from third place, which was reserved for Marco Mapelli/Archie Hamilton, also in a Porsche 997 GT3.

In the Spanish GT Championship, once again, the Portuguese were in evidence. Patrick Cunha/José Ramos, in Lamborghini Gallardo, returned to the first place on the podium, followed by Manuel Gião/Carlos Vieira, in the Audi R8 LMS. Third was Ferdinando Geri / Giacomo Piccini in a Porsche 911 GT3.

In Formula 2, yesterday's history repeated itself, with English driver Luciano Bacheta winning and Matheo Tuscher taking second place again. In third place, this time was Markus Pommer.

At the F3 European, the winner was Mans Grenhagen this time, followed by Gianmarco Raimondo in second and Niccolo Schiro in third.

The next official event at the Autódromo do Algarve takes place on the 2nd and 3rd of June with the WTCC, World Touring Car Championship, where Portuguese driver Tiago Monteiro races.
