Career managers, who are a face of the Institute for Employment and Vocational Training with the unemployed and who interact with them in the active search for employment, are a new figure that this institute is preparing to launch in the coming months.

The announcement was made by the member of the board of directors of the IEFP Félix Ismênio, on the sidelines of the presentation of the National Championship of Professions, which will take place in May at the Vocational Training Center of Faro, located in Areal Gordo.

Asked about the unemployment figures in Portugal, released yesterday, which place our country as the third in Europe with the highest unemployment rate, behind Greece and Spain, Félix Ismênio considered that it is important to make the unemployed return as much as possible. as soon as possible to the labor market.

The Algarve is the region of the country that suffers the most from this problem, with unemployment rates close to 20 percent, compared to a national record of 15 percent.

In addition to the already existing calls to publicize job training offers, the IEFP will now launch the figure of the career manager. "We are reorganizing ourselves so that people have career managers who accompany them in a more personalized way and who find more adequate answers to the profile of each candidate", revealed to journalists the director of the Employment Institute.

Basically, it is about «giving a face» to a service that is already provided, but which is still forcing a «deep restructuring» in terms of organization and procedures, which should be completed «within approximately 3 months» .

“Until now, whoever went to an employment service, similarly to what happens in a banking institution, did not know the person who was concerned with their personal employment plan. In the future, the person will know the name and contact of the person who is handling their case», he revealed.

«The Personal Employment Plan can be composed of several measures: internships, employment contracts, insertion, certified model training and broader training. We really want people to have experiences again, even non-professionals, in contact with companies and with the market», said Félix Isménio.

The IEFP leader also defended that training “should be increasingly linked to companies and the labor market”, a practice “which was not very common in the past”. «Being in contact with people who are working also stimulates the will and hope of returning to the market», he believes.

Félix Isménio stated that there is the possibility of transferring some of these portfolios to external entities, "such as Private Social Solidarity Institutions and others", in order to fulfill the objective that "people are unemployed for as little time as possible".
