For the president of Sporting Clube Olhanense Isidoro Sousa, the passion for the club started very early. «My uncles were the owners of a “castle” that existed next to Padinha Stadium and I, since the age of four, got used to following the club's games there and many away from home. It has been a life of passion and dedication to the club», he told the Sul Informação.
«I keep fantastic moments, some as a kid. But I emphasize the rise to the Division of Honor and, obviously, the rise to the I League. There are no words that can describe what I felt. And also being able to celebrate the centenary with the club guaranteed in the I League for at least another year», revealed the president of Olhanense.
And it was also because he got used to seeing the club in Division I again, that he always cherished the dream of seeing the professional military football team at the highest level, at home. He wasn't the only one.
«One of the things that always moved me were the requests of some older members, who told me they didn't want to die without seeing Olhanense in Division I again. When we did, three years ago, many came to me in tears, which moved me and made a big impression on me», said Isidoro Sousa.
Current success has been built over many years
Although he cannot be dissociated from the recent achievements of the Algarve club, Isidoro Sousa is modest in assuming a leading role. “My thanks are profound, from the boys who founded the club to the directors all up to this day, because, in fact, this is a great club. This is not just a club in Olhão, but in the Algarve», he stressed.
These days, moreover, the club is going through a phase of stability, sporting and financial, despite the crisis. «There was work here from different directions, we can't put our sardines to shame, like Carlos Nóbrega, José Cardoso, João Gomes… all of whom I worked with and worked with five», he said.
But there was one of the recent presidents who left a special mark on Isidoro Sousa. «There is one that I have to remember and, for me, he was the best president of all that I have known, and that was Engineer Vítor Louro Neves, who died in the service of Olhanense. He was a man who marked me a lot», he praised.
