The 2012 International GT Open season kicks off at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve on the coming days from April 27th to 29th. This will be the third time that the Championship, which this year celebrates seven years of activity, comes to Portimão.

GT3 and GT2 Grand Touring Cars driven by professional drivers or 'gentleman drivers' enter the track to shine but also to provide very competitive races.

The International GT Open is often called the European GT because, in addition to Portugal, it visits countries such as Germany, Belgium, England, France, Hungary, Italy and Spain.

In representation of the national colors, there will once again be Miguel Ramos but also the Portuguese team of the ASM Team with António Coimbra and the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 .

Miguel Ramos is teaming up with Raffaele Giammaria in a Ferrari 458 GT2. The Portuguese driver has already 'sung' victory in 2011 at the AIA and is getting ready to repeat the feat. However, it has strong opponents very well equipped with machines as varied as Porsche, Aston Martin, Audi, Mercedes or Ford.

But in addition to the GT, the single-seaters of the Formula 2 Championship, the European F3 and the Challenge Desafio Único will also be on track. Formula 2 took off last weekend at Silverstone in what will be the fourth season of the Championship. Single-seaters very similar to Formula One in a clear allusion to an antechamber of the sport had not been the cars designed by Williams F1. The drivers are young promises of world motorsport with aspirations for the highest category in motor sport.

A 'mix' that will take you to the track, no less than 12 races. But the tests will not only be the main reason for attraction. The AIA is also preparing a 'Lap Parade' which consists in the possibility that anyone who has purchased a 'paddock' ticket can, with their own car, make a tour of the Portimão route. This 'Lap Parade' is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at a time yet to be defined.

Tickets are on sale at the AIA store until April 22nd with 15% discount. All residents in the Parish of Mexilhoeira Grande will be entitled to free entry upon presentation of the Citizen's Card or Voter Card that proves registration in the parish.
