The municipality of Vila Real de Santo António celebrates the 38th anniversary of the 25th of April 1974 with a sports and cultural program, organized by the municipality, in partnership with the Parish Councils and associations of the municipality.
Under the motto "Viver Abril", the celebrations begin at 8:00 am with the raising of the flag in the parish of Vila Nova de Cacela, a ceremony that will be repeated in Vila Real de Santo António and Monte Gordo, at 9:00 am and 9:30 am, respectively.
At 10:00 am, the usual solemn session will take place at the António Aleixo Cultural Centre, followed by the offering of carnations to the population.
At 11:10 am, there will be a release of pigeons at Praça Marquês de Pombal, an initiative that will also take place in Monte Gordoat 9 pm.
From 11:15 am, the activities will be concentrated in Praça Marquês de Pombal, from where a mountain bike ride will depart between Monte Gordo and VRSA and some athletics events will be disputed.
Throughout the day, the venue also hosts basketball demonstrations, traditional games, table games, table football tournaments and dance lessons. The program also reserves proposals for the youngest, who will have the opportunity to paint a mural depicting Freedom Day.
Em Monte Gordo, the sports competitions start at 16:00 pm with a women's football match at Campo do Beira Mar. The same venue will host the Sistema x Projecto SAAL men's match, at 17:30 pm.
The schedule ends in Monte Gordo with a dance by Duo Reflexo, at 22 pm, in front of the casino.
Also between April 24th and May 1st, Praça Marquês de Pombal will host the cycle «Fusão de Sabores», organized by «Efeito Eventos», in collaboration with the VRSA delegation of the Association of Commerce and Services of the Algarve Region (Acral).
The show includes wine tasting, tasting of regional preserves and cheeses, sale of regional products, workshops and live cooking demonstrations.
