The Recreational and Cultural Association of Musicians, from Faro, is promoting this month a series of events included in the program “Abril: Dias de Música e Liberdade”. The first is this Tuesday, April 3, at the association's headquarters, with a concert with Smente, a rock band formed in 2010 and residing in the association, with a repertoire of originals in Portuguese.

Next Saturday, the 7th, at 21 pm, the session “Zeca e Adriano – from Fado à Intervenção” will take place, in which the well-known journalist and Portuguese Communist Party activist Rúben de Carvalho will analyze the contribution of the two singers – in the year in which it's been 30 and 25 years since its disappearance – for the advancement of Culture and Freedom in our country.

On Tuesday, April 10th, at 21:30 pm, a concert of music and demand will take place with Xaquín López, while on Saturday, April 14th, at 17:30 pm, a meeting of supporters of the platform “Youth with the Future is with the Constitution of the Present”. From 21 pm, Carlos Clara Gomes & Companhia DeMente will give a concert at the Associação de Músicos.

 

On Thursday, April 19, there will be a live broadcast of the RUA FM program, “Quinta da Música”, by Manuel Amorim, and at night there will be a screening of the documentary “Rotas de Ilusão” by Clara Angeiras and Glysia Nogueira (Brazil) on human trafficking, with subsequent discussion and debate with the participation of Sandra Benfica and Leonor Agulhas, responsible for the Romper Silêncios project and members of the Democratic Movement of Women.

 

In the last session of the month, the documentary “48”, by Susana de Sousa Dias, on the interrogations of the Portuguese political police (PIDE), will be screened, with subsequent debate with the participation of former political prisoners and members of the União de Resistentes Antifascistas Portuguese.

 

The program continues until May: on Thursday, the 3rd, the session “Portugal – Italy, Historical and Musical Parallels” will take place, prepared by the Italian Language and Communication class and the guidance of Angela Gallus, Italian reader at University of the Algarve.

The last scheduled session will be a theater play, on Saturday, May 5th at 21:30 pm: “O Esqueleto do Cook Akli”, produced by Teatro Fórum de Moura and uses the technique of public disposition in an arena, to facilitate the interaction between actors and audience.
