The Portuguese journey of the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) joins the already extensive 2012 events calendar of the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve. More and more, international organizations place the trust in the AIA to carry out their events. In 2012 there will be three FIA events in Portimão: FIA GT1 World Championship, Le Mans Series and now the WTCC.

For Paulo Pinheiro, administrator of the AIA, “this decision by the organizers of the WTCC reflects well the confidence they place in our work. It is with great satisfaction that we welcome this Championship, one of the most competitive in the world.”

“This year our calendar is one of the most extensive since its inauguration in 2008 and this is essentially due to the commitment of international organizations to our circuit”, he referred.
