The so-called “Torres Crotália”, which has not ended in Lagos for years, will finally be able to be concluded, within the scope of a collaboration protocol with several companies of the Sonae Group, which the Lacobrigense City Council approved at its most recent meeting.

According to the municipality, this document "clarifies the investment intentions of a large financial group, of national and international reference, and enshrines urban and heritage solutions relevant to municipal interests, with special emphasis on the definition of the project for the Towers of Crotália and for the Baluarte land, which will become part of the municipal domain».

In this protocol, the methodologies, calendar and agreed urban parameters were established, following negotiations carried out between representatives of the Sonae Capital Group and the City Council, with a view to the development and implementation of various projects in Lagos.

Thus, according to this protocol, the Municipality of Lagos undertakes to approve, in the shortest period of time, the alteration to the Costa D'Oiro Allotment, so that it contemplates the feasibility of licensing the completion of the construction of the two towers intended for to tourist enterprises, called “Torres da Crotália”.

In turn, the company TroiaResort (of the Sonae Group) undertakes to prepare and submit the licensing project for the completion of the two towers to the approval of the Municipality of Lagos, within a period of six months from the signing of this protocol.

TroiaResort also assumes that the construction will be completed within a period of five years from the date of issuance of the construction license, and TroiaResort intends to request the issuance of that license by the end of the second half of 2013.

The obligations that the parties will assume result, among others, for the Municipality to allocate the so-called “Land of Raquete”, located at Rua Sacadura Cabral, in Lagos, to the municipal private domain.

The land is currently intended for public roads and parking and has an area of 893 square meters and the value assigned and accepted by the parties of 829 590 euros.

With the passage to the municipal private domain, the land will be sold by exchange for the future property corresponding to an autonomous fraction to be built in the same lot, plus the land, located at Rua do Baluarte, with an approximate area of 4000 meters, with the value of 737 170 euros and the sum of 120 000 euros.

The City Council assures that «the provisions referring to the urban operations foreseen in this protocol are compatible with the proposed revision of the Lagos Urbanization Plan under public discussion».

In order for this matter to proceed, the Chamber will now propose to the Municipal Assembly the disaffection of the “Land of Raquete” and request authorization for the sale of said parcel through exchange, as stated in the protocol now approved.
