The Orquestra do Algarve concert schedule for the month of April includes an Easter Concert in Lagos, the event “Melodias & Sabores” to be held at the Algarve Hotel and Tourism School, in Faro, a Concert in Loulé directed by Cesário Costa and, finally, the penultimate Promenade Concert of the 2012 Cycle.

Orquestra do Algarve celebrates the Easter season with a concert at the Centro Cultural de Lagos, on April 7, under the musical direction of John Avery, associate conductor of the formation. The repertoire includes works by composers from the most diverse nationalities, such as Charpentier, Morricone, Handel and Grieg.

In the middle of the month, on the 13th, several chamber music groups from OA will be performing at the Algarve Hotel and Tourism School, within the scope of the event “Melodias & Sabores”, in which a special dinner will be served accompanied, during breaks, by live performances by an OA string quartet and wind quintet. The initiative carried out in co-production with the Algarve Hotel and Tourism School combines chamber music and gourmet cuisine.

The Louletano Cine-Teatro is the stage for a concert by the Orquestra do Algarve on the 15th of the month, this time under the musical direction of Cesário Costa, OA's Main Guest Mast. Bach and Handel compose the musical repertoire of this concert.

Conductor Jan Wierzba directs OA in yet another Pedagogical Concert, on the 17th, at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro. During the afternoon, OA chamber music groups will perform at EBD Afonso III and Escola Secundária Tomás Cabreira, in Faro, within the scope of the project “The School receives OA”.

Finally, on the 22nd, the wood family will be featured in another Promenade Concert, under the theme “Families in Concert”, at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro, and in the Municipal Auditorium of Lagoa.

In these concerts, under the baton of conductor José Eduardo Gomes, Orquestra do Algarve will interpret works by Mozart, Debussy and Beethoven. The Cycle is a co-production between OA, TMF and the Municipality of Lagoa, sponsored by CGD.
