The recent announcement of the closure of the Monchique court, as part of the reform of the judicial map, leads Cecília Honório, a deputy from the Left Bloc, to travel to Monchique today for a meeting with Rui André, mayor.

The Ministry of Justice will close 47 courts across the country, having as a criterion, for this decision, the “rule” of 250 new processes per year. Any court with less than that number of cases per year will be dismissed.

The scarce transport between Monchique and Silves, where the Monchique processes would transit, increased the interiority and isolation of the Monchiquenses.

Rui André has already declared his opposition to the minister's decision “with a strong position,” he said.

After this meeting, the deputy of the Bloc will visit and meet with the technical staff of the Temporary Reception Center for Minors at Risk – Catraia, in Portimão. This visit is part of the roadmap for poverty and social exclusion in the Algarve.
