The month of March is dedicated to jazz at the Municipal Auditorium in Olhão. the festival Audi Jazz and Soul Olhão brings four shows not to be missed and ends in a big way, the 24th, with the presence of Aurea, who participates in the celebration of the third anniversary of the concert hall in Olhão. Before that, André Carvalho 5teto, Nuno Ferreira Trio and Blue Dot pass by the stage from Olhão.

The first concert will be with the André Carvalho 5 ceiling, on March 3, at 21:30 pm.

In May 2011, André Carvalho 5teto won the prize for best group at the Bucharest International Jazz Festival, having received the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Embassy of Portugal in Romania within the scope of this competition.

The quintet has performed in several clubs, auditoriums and festivals, such as OutJazz 2009 and 2010, Centro Cultural Vila-Flor, Centro Cultural Vila das Aves, OndaJazz, BeJazz, Jazz ao Norte, among others.

Hajime is the debut album by André Carvalho 5teto. Edited in May 2011 by the Portuguese publisher “Tone of a Pitch”.

Combining contemporary jazz with classical music, contemporary music and a touch of Portuguese music, the compositions come with an original approach in which improvisation is the unifying element.

This 5teto includes Jorge Reis on saxophone, Bruno Santos on guitar, Filipe Melo on piano, Fender Rhodes and melodica, André Carvalho on double bass and João Rijo on drums.

On the 10th, also at 21 pm, it will be the turn of the Nuno Ferreira Trio take the stage at the Municipal Auditorium of Olhão.

With Nuno Ferreira on guitar, Demian Cabaud on double bass and Marcos Cavaleiro on drums, this trio aims to pay homage to the great piano trios in jazz history, such as Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett and Brad Mehldau.

Their repertoire includes themes from these pianists and some standards popularized by them.

Nuno Ferreira Trio has performed regularly for over 10 years in clubs, auditoriums and festivals, being recognized for its modern, lyrical and fluid sound.

Nuno Ferreira was born in Barreiro in 1975 and began studying music at the age of eight. He was director of the Barreiro Jazz School between 2002 and 2004, and developed the pedagogical programs for the JB Jazz School.

He is currently the coordinator of the Jazz area at the Superior School of Music and Performing Arts of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto, where he teaches guitar, improvisation, auditory training and ensemble in the licentiate and master's degree in Jazz.

A week later, on March 17th (21:30 pm), the festival continues with the performance of Blue dot.

Blue Dot, with Ricardo Matos on vocals and guitar, Pedro Gil on guitar, Paulo da Silva on double bass and Vasco Fialho on drums, formed in 2010 with four musicians who already shared a musical complicity by participating in several common projects.

At the same time, the quartet contributes their individual experiences in other side projects, thus giving an open and engaging sound to the versions played by this Blues Roots project.

Blue Dot makes us relive the great classics of this genre, where the guitars are present and constantly dialogue and where the themes are sometimes recomposed, without ever detracting from the sacred raw material of the great Blues classics.

“Crossroads blues”, “Third degree” or the Willie Dixon classic “Hoochie coochie man”, are some of the themes recreated by Blue Dot.

They are blues in its purest essence, recreated and improvised, making this musical genre a passion for musicians and the public.

The festival ends on the 24th (21:30 pm), with the performance of the Portuguese aura, in a concert that will also mark the celebration of the third anniversary of the Olhão concert hall.
