The Councils of Albufeira and Loulé, in the category of Best Municipality, the Marinas of Lagos, Portimão and Vilamoura (Best Marina) and the Arade Congress Center (Best Congress Space) are the Algarve nominees for the Publituris Portugal Trade Awards 2012 .

The winners will be announced at the BTL – Bolsa de Turismo de Lisboa-, on the 29th of February.

The Publituris newspaper once again organizes, in partnership with BTL, the Portugal Trade Awards, which distinguish the best companies, institutions and tourism professionals in 15 categories.

The municipalities of Albufeira and Loulé are two of the six nominated for the category of Best Municipality for Tourism, together with Óbidos, Lisbon, Guimarães and Funchal.

In addition to the three marinas in the Algarve, Horta, Leça and Oeiras are also competing in the same category, while the Arade Congress Center will have to match forces with the Alfândega do Porto, the Lisbon Congress Center, the Congress Center of Estoril, Fundação Oriente and Pavilhão Atlântico.

For the nomination process, the organization took into account the work developed by each municipality throughout 2011, their sensitivity to Tourism, the construction and maintenance of tourist infrastructure, services, images and events.

The jury includes names such as Vítor Neto and Bernardo Trindade, both former Secretaries of State for Tourism, Miguel Júdice, president of the Hotel Association of Portugal (AHP), Pedro Costa Ferreira, president of the Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies ( APAVT), Adília Lisboa, executive president of the Portuguese Tourism Confederation (CTP), among others.

Since 1969, Publituris organizes the awards that distinguish the best in Tourism in Portugal.

In recent years, the event has grown in importance and is now called Portugal Travel Awards.

In 2011, joining this already traditional initiative, and in partnership with the Lisbon Tourism Exchange, the Journal also organized the Trade Awards, in recognition of the work developed by companies, institutions and professionals in favor of the sector's excellence.

In the 2012 edition, there will be 16 contest categories: GSA Aviation, Transfer Company, Cruise Company, Congress Space, Event Space, International Operator, Active Tourism Company, PCO, Independent Hotel, Hotel Site, Corporate Agency , Operator Website, Marina, Rural Tourism, Innovation Award and Best Municipality Award.
