The Norwegian Edvald Boasson Hagen (Sky) is the new yellow jersey of Volta ao Algarve, after having won this Thursday, in the sprint, the 2nd stage disputed between Faro and Lagoon.

This time, in the first 10 of the stage, not a single Portuguese cyclist appears, although in the General Individual Rui Costa (movistar), he remains in the 9th position.

One of the heroes of the day was the cyclist from the Algarve Carmim-Prio-Tavira team Tomás Swift-Metcalfe, who is in 2nd place in the Montanha Award, after having competed for the green jersey with Karsten Kroon (Saxo Bank).

In other words, once again, similarly to yesterday, Carmim-Prio-Tavira achieved prominence by placing one of its men on the trail of the day.

In a platoon of luxury, it was Tomas Metcalfe who caught the eye. The Tavira runner was on the run from the start of the race along with two other opponents until he was reached 47 kilometers from the finish.

As a result of another breakout that formed, it was the turn of the Carmim-Prio-Tavira team to lead the pack. With a squad fully stretched out, a possible arrival to the sprint began to be glimpsed.

The expectations were confirmed and the arrival was even to the sprint with the victory of Edvald Boasson Hagen (Sky), who is also the new yellow jersey.

After all, Samuel Caldeira was, in this shot, the element of the group from Tavira that went the farthest, when he crossed the finish line in 21st place, with the same time as the winner.

In the overall balance, it is Alejandro Marque who climbs the highest, in 23rd, with a difference of 10 seconds to the yellow jersey.

This Friday, the 3rd stage of the Volta ao Algarve will be disputed, a tough connection of 194,6 kilometers between Castro Marim and Alto do Malhão, with the goal coinciding with a second category mountain count.
