Sociedade Ponto Verde (SPV) is equipping or improving 25 study rooms, within the scope of the social responsibility project Reciclar é Dar e Receiving, developed in partnership with Entrajuda and SIC Esperança.
The evolution of the quantities of glass sent for recycling, so far, has enabled the equipping of 25 study rooms in Private Social Solidarity Institutions and reaching 950 children from 14 Districts of the country (including the Azores and Madeira archipelagos).
In the Algarve, the Uma Porta Amiga Association was supported in Tavira
In practical terms, this support represented the delivery of various materials, such as 73 computers, 160 tables, 764 chairs, 1.870 files, 3.600 notebooks, and even school kits for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles, which included language dictionaries and grammars Portuguese, English and French, reference and exercise books and tests to prepare the tests for the various subjects.
The mechanics that made this project possible resulted in the separation of the glass containers used by the Portuguese. For every ton of glass sent for recycling in 2011, SPV gives one euro for the creation of study rooms.
«The Portuguese responded positively to this cause that combines the preservation of the environment and social responsibility. The project intended to demonstrate the decisive role that organizations can play in society, in this specific case fighting poverty by promoting the education of young people, who, over the 15 years of activity of Sociedade Ponto Verde, have contributed to the construction of a cleaner planet, calling for recycling», stresses Luís Veiga Martins, general director of Sociedade Ponto Verde.
The assembly work of the first classrooms is underway, in order to provide, from now on, better study conditions for hundreds of children.
The project has been developed in partnership with Entrajuda and SIC Esperança, who were responsible for selecting and monitoring the Private Social Solidarity Institutions with the study rooms that will be the target of intervention.
«With the development of this project, we are all contributing to prevent cases of school dropout/failure, thus helping to break cycles of poverty. This is an example of how organizations can play a decisive role in society», emphasizes Isabel Jonet, president of Entrajuda.
“SIC Esperança aims to help solidarity institutions to develop concrete projects. For this reason, our involvement in this project made perfect sense, especially considering that in 2011 Education has been our main focus of action», explains Mercedes Balsemão, president of SIC Esperança.
The wish formulated by the children who participated in the Sociedade Ponto Verde awareness campaign, which is currently being shown on TV and also in cinema, thus becomes a reality, enabling hundreds of families to be sure that their children will be monitored. and the right space to improve your knowledge.
