The Parish Council of Portimão will offer, as in previous years, 500 Christmas baskets, during a solidarity lunch scheduled for December 21, at the Fire Department of Portimão.
This initiative «aims to alleviate the financial difficulties of many needy families in the parish, especially during the Christmas season, and has the support of a group of entities linked to the commerce of Portimão, which will contribute with the offer of food for lunch. , which will be served by a group of people from civil society who made themselves available for the purpose”.
The volunteers who will serve this lunch include mayors, employees of the Board, City Council and municipal companies, teachers, journalists, retired people, in a group of more than 20 people.
«In this Christmas season, which intends to be more than a time of consumerism and selfishness, let us summon brotherhood, peace, joy and hope, values essential to the human condition, rekindling the values of solidarity and mutual help through symbolic gestures like this», stresses the Parish Council in a statement.
