“By Cister in Portugal: Management of a Heritage between Memory and Reality” is the title of the conference that will be given by Ana Maria Tavares Martins, this Friday, the 9th, at 17 pm, at Amphitheater A of the Pedagogical Complex, at the Campus of Gambelas, in Faro.

This is the VI Open Class on Cultural Heritage Management, organized by the Cultural Heritage course at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the University of Algarve.

Admission is free.

Ana Maria Tavares Martins has a degree in Architecture (1997) from the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Lisbon (FA-UTL), a PhD in Architecture from the University of Seville (2011), with the thesis “The architectures of Cister in Portugal. The actuality of its rehabilitations and its insertion in the territory”.

She is currently a professor at the Department of Civil Engineering and Architecture at the University of Beira Interior (DECA-UBI), a researcher at the Center of Materials and Building Technologies (C-MADE) at the University of Beira Interior and at the Arnaldo Araújo Study Center at the Escola Superior Artística of Porto (CEAA-ESAP).

He has several works published on monastic architecture, namely on the architectural legacy of the Cistercian Order in Portugal.
