This Christmas, Algar, the company responsible for managing the Algarve's Multi-municipal Solid Waste Recovery and Treatment System, will offer horticultural plants to its customers, as well as samples of its Nutriverde compost, ideal for this type of crop.

The plants and the compost are available at all of the company's facilities, which says it is taking "another step in environmental awareness", as it wants "in the Algarve to experience an even greener Christmas".

“In times of crisis, and subsequent food shortages, there is a need to develop solutions that allow self-support. Planting horticultural plants is one of Algar's proposals, which thus invites all Algarveans to create their own vegetable garden», stresses the company.

In addition to being a great hobby, it also brings economic advantages by providing cheaper and more flavorful vegetables. With the fundamental help of Nutriverde, 100% natural compost, better agricultural production will be achieved.

All this because Nutriverde is an organic agricultural corrective obtained exclusively from green waste from parks, gardens, golf courses, agricultural activities, etc., through a 100% vegetable composting process.

This compost produced and marketed by Algar is ideal to be used as an organic fertilizer and/or substrate. In addition to not being aggressive and polluting for nature, Nutriverde brings numerous benefits to the soil, as it combats erosion and improves its physical, chemical and biological properties, etc.

Algar is responsible for the reception, transfer, treatment and recovery of waste produced in the municipalities of Albufeira, Alcoutim, Aljezur, Castro Marim, Faro, Lagoa, Lagos, Loulé, Monchique, Olhão, Portimão, São Brás de Alportel, Silves, Tavira, Vila do Bispo and Vila Real de Santo António.

Algar is part of the business universe of the Águas de Portugal Group, namely the sub-holding for the area of EGF waste, where around 3,6 million tons of urban waste (RU) produced in 165 municipalities are processed annually, serving approximately 63% of the population of Mainland Portugal.
