The PSD/Portimão reaffirmed, in a statement, that, in view of the «very serious situation» of the Municipality of this Algarve city, «a plan must be drawn up aimed at the financial rebalancing and a declaration of financial disruption».

The social democrats of Portimão, in a statement signed by Pedro Castelo Xavier, president of the Municipal Section, thus reacted to the recent refusal, by the Court of Auditors, to approve the Financial Sanitation Plan presented by the Municipality of Portimão, led by an executive majority socialist.

Pedro Xavier recalls that «the members of the PPD/PSD at the City Council and Municipal Assembly always said that the Plan presented was only used to spend money», and, in fact, the Court of Auditors said that «the referred plan did not meet the conditions for obtaining a visa'.

“Only the blindness of the Socialist Executive, led by Dr. Manuel da Luz, could believe in this miracle”, stresses the president of the PSD/Portimão.

The Social Democrats also point out that "the amounts of debt are far above the municipality's capacities", which is "unfortunately the situation of the municipality for some years now", even arguing that "this situation was only possible with manipulation of budgets and own accounts'.

The PSD/Portimão adds that "it regrets the situation created by the irresponsibility of the management of the executive led by Dr. Manuel da Luz" and that "it is not enough to give parties and shows, something more is needed", ending with the demand for "apologies mayor and that he assumes his responsibilities'.
