The public presentation session of the Parking and Circulation Regulation in the Historic Center of Lagos will take place on November 21st (Monday), at 21 pm, in the Auditorium of the Paços do Concelho Building Séc. XXI – Praça do Município.
The Câmara de Lagos clarifies that the promotion of this session is not "a legal obligation of the public appraisal process that is underway until December 20", but that it "has decided to carry out this complementary communication action with the aim of promoting a broader debate , listen to the various opinions, interests and sensitivities present, and raise awareness of the scope of the proposed Regulation on Circulation and Parking in the Intrawall Area, in the Limited Duration Parking Area and in the Covered Parks of the City of Lagos».
According to the municipality, this proposal "aimed, in the first place, to improve the quality of life in the historic center and increase its attractiveness for the purpose of permanent residence, without neglecting the maintenance and increase of economic activity".
The draft Regulation was approved at the Chamber Meeting on October 19th.
The document is available for consultation at the Virtual Desk at www.cm-lagos.com , on the premises of the Municipality of Lagos and in the Parish Councils of Santa Maria and São Sebastião, on weekdays, between 9:00 am and 17:00 pm.
As a complement, it is also available for consultation, the Project for Mobility in the Historic Center of the City of Lagos, which is at the origin of the Regulation proposal presented for public appreciation.
One of the great innovations of this regulation is the fact that road circulation and parking within walls are now allowed, free of charge, to any motorist, but only for 30 minutes, a period considered as necessary to access the services located in this area.
After 30 minutes, parking will be charged. Another of the guiding principles of this proposed regulation is related to residents of the historic center, who will be free to enter and park free of charge and without any time limitation.
These measures to encourage residence in the Historic Center aim to revitalize this territory as a permanent living space, enhancing and enhancing the activities of commerce, services, tourism, safety and environmental quality, structural elements of the brand «Lagos dos Discoveries».
