The Lídia Jorge Municipal Library will host the presentation of the work “Os Mendonças das Alagoas – Luso-Brazilian Genealogical Essay”, by António Horta Correia. This is a research work on the descent of José de Mendonça de Matos Moreira, born in the town of Albufeira, who was the 14th General Ombudsman of Alagoas, in Brazil.
On October 7th, at 18 pm, the book “Os Mendonças das Alagoas – Luso-Brazilian Genealogical Essay” by António Horta Correia will be presented at the Lídia Jorge Municipal Library.
The work is the result of an investigation into the descent of a citizen of Albufeire, which took the author to both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, from Torre do Tombo to Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, in Brazil.
With this essay, the writer aims to bring together five generations of the descendants of José de Mendonça de Matos Moreira, born in the town of Albufeira, in the former kingdom of the Algarve, who was the 14th General Ombudsman of Alagoas, Brazil.
António Horta Correia was born in Vila Real de Santo António, in 1932, and after his academic career, he worked in companies in the fish canning sector.
He also performed functions as Ombudsman of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Vila Real de Santo António and assumed the presidency of the Municipal Council of Vila Real de Santo António, among other positions.
