Between November 1 and December 30, the Municipal Auditorium of Olhão hosts another art exhibition in its foyer. This time it is the Algarve artist José Eliseu who shows his ceramic works.

With the opening scheduled for November 1st, at 15:30 pm, at the José Eliseu sculptural ceramics exhibition, it will be possible to notice that children are almost always in evidence.

As the writer António Ramos Rosa said in relation to his pieces, “the sculptor José Eliseu seeks to combine the child with the object of his game and identifies or combines with this game in its figures in which the child who plays the game he plays”.

José Eliseu was born in Mexilhoeira Grande, Algarve. He studied at the Instituto Superior de Design (IADE), in Lisbon. He is mentioned in the book “50 Anos de Pintura em Portugal” (Universitária Editora). Since 1980 he has been art critic for newspapers and magazines.

He has participated in several exhibitions in Portugal and abroad, of which we can highlight: Centro Cultural de Lagos; Albufeira Municipal Gallery; Arc XVI Gallery – Faro: Artur Bual Municipal Gallery – Amadora; Fitares Gallery – Sintra; National Society of Fine Arts – Lisbon; Electricity Museum – Lisbon; Belém Cultural Center, Gallery 4 – Lisbon; Puppet Museum – Lisbon; International Biennial of Arts, Brusque – Brazil; Stedelij Hoger Institut, Genk – Belgium; La Viscontea Gallery, Rho, Milan – Italy; 100 Years of Miró, Alcarcon – Madrid.
