The last thematic workshop of this year's training cycle, organized by ALFA – Free Association of Photographers of the Algarve, is scheduled for November 12, at Galeria Arco, in Vila-Adentro in the city of Faro.
The theme is Sport/Movement photography and training will be given by Melanie Maps, professional photographer, trainer and regular contributor to the Record newspaper.
On a daily basis, Melanie works as a photojournalist at Agência f32, where she develops work for the written press and the main national and international agencies.
This cycle of workshops, which started last June and continues until June 2012, covers different themes: landscape, fashion, product/stock, sport/movement, studio, among others, always with reference photographers.
In October, ALFA received Joel Santos in a workshop on landscape and travel, in September Luís Costa on photojournalism, and in mid-June the cycle started with Telma Veríssimo.
The actions have a strong practical component, are aimed at all photographers and those interested in photography who already have basic/initial knowledge, or who have already gone through initial training, and/or who have mastered the main concepts of photography.
In addition, ALFA organized two photography initiation actions, with former president Jovino Batista as trainer, and one dedicated to image rights/copyrights, by specialist Mário Serra Pereira.
During the current year, the Association organized activities all over the Algarve, with greater expression in those carried out in the municipalities of Portimão, Faro, S. Brás de Alportel, Olhão, Castro Marim and Tavira.
To join ALFA you just need a conventional, compact, bridge or digital SLR camera, have some free time and be willing to pay the monthly fee in the amount of euros per month.

Melanie Maps has training, extensive experience, domain and is specialized in the field of sports photography.
Graduated in Photography at the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar in 2006, worked as an assistant and photo post-production technician at a Fashion and Advertising company in Espinho. She is a resident photographer at Agencia f32.
At f32, he developed knowledge in various areas of photography, working as a photojournalist in national and international media and agencies. He went through advertising and studio photography. Collaborates with the newspaper Record, from 2006 until today.
