On the 25th of September, the Municipal Council of Vila do Bispo promoted, as part of the European Heritage Days, a guided tour of the Igreja Matriz and a lecture entitled “The Settlement of Cape Lands – perspectives on its evolution” .
The guided tour had as its motto the most important heritage element in Vila do Bispo: the Igreja Matriz, dedicated to Nossa Senhora da Conceição, one of the most interesting and complete examples of Baroque in the Algarve and even in the south of the country.
In this temple, there was a small dissertation on its history, its artistic style, its heritage and decorative elements and its symbology.
The lecture was given by the senior technician in the area of History of the City Council and took place at the Interpretation Center of Vila do Bispo.
The speaker addressed the topic of the settlement of the territory of the current county, from medieval times to the XNUMXth century, referring to aspects related to its origins, development and some curiosities related to each of the villages and towns on this important stretch of the coast from the Western Algarve.
