Secretary of State for Tourism Cecília Meireles will be at the EHTA in Faro on October 7th, at the opening of an international conference on the theme "Innovation in Tourism through Knowledge and Creativity", as part of the European campaign to raise awareness of Service Innovation.
The programme, which extends throughout the day, includes the participation of renowned speakers and experts, namely Reinhard Buscher, from DG Enterprise and Industry of the European Commission and Professor Daniel Bessa, director of COTEC, among others.
Until today, Tuesday, the joint organization of the initiative, which involves CCDR Algarve, Enterprise Europe Network and the European Commission, has received around one hundred and a half entries.
The event will address the role of knowledge networks and innovation management to improve the competitiveness of the tourism sector, through the contributions of experts from Turismo de Portugal, COTEC (Business Association for Innovation) and the presentation of successful cases the Tivoli Hotels & Resorts Group and the Balearic Islands, Spain, among others.
In the afternoon practical sessions, topics of high interest and up-to-date will be debated, such as the impact of technologies and creative and cultural industries in boosting innovation in tourism.
The guest speakers will be renowned experts such as Miguel Payeras, executive director of the tourism technology cluster in the Balearic Islands, and Carlos Martins, president of the creative industries development agency.
